I have some builds to start and it's nice to see how others go about it. Haven't built from scratch so it takes away some of that (I'm going to mess up my wood) feeling. Thanks for the posts

Sorry for the poor photos, but you get the Idea...got the stock stained, first application of linseed oil and a start on finishing the metal.

Well it's finished other than installing the sling and swivels as soon as I get the sling made and a bit more aging with a few more beauty marks.

Something is bothering me about the line at the top at the rear part of the butt. Is that an incipient crack that is being reinforced by metal hardware or (hopefully) just a deep grain line?

it does look like a starting crack , but I`ve seen similar marks that turned out to be nothing !
