Patch lubing methods

for a while now Ive been using just straight hoppes #9 as a patch lube, but a while back I got some beeswax to try adding it. I made a small batch 50/50 beeswax hoppes #9 it seems about perfect. made a small mason jar batch today, it set back up in the jar.  for just the hoppes, id just dip a stack of patches in a small cup of it, and squeeze all i could out, then put them in a small screw lid jar i keep in my range bag..easy peezy. how do you guys lube patches with a beeswax mix? ive heard of dipping and laying on a screen to drip dry ( I guess over a tray to catch the mess) this just seems a lot of fuss, and id have to do it outside..  just gives me visions of all sorts of dust, bugs, neighbors lawn clippings etc  covering the patches when i finally went back to collect, or they are all blown around the neighborhood.  What methods do those of you who make their own use?  seems to make a tin and rub each patch as i shoot would give very uneven lube to each patch, and its too thick for a spritzer bottle. just dip and squeeze like i was when its cool enough to handle seems to be a pretty tricky timing dance.  how do you guys do it?

Personally, the ONLY lube I use is spit. No grease, oil or any other substance goes down my barrel except after cleaning.
And that is wiped out and then washed out with alcohol before I shoot.
Except during hunting season, I use just a hint of mink oil then.

rub patches on the mixer, you only need to do one side, stack'um as you go then nuke'um in the microwave just long enough to heat them up. dont over heat them and dont use your patch tin to heat them in the microwave, trust me on this hdslp.

I'm with Dogshirt , I use spit only I can shoot all afternoon without wiping the bore I can't say that about any other patch lube I've tried . Don't get any more simple and you  always have it with you .

I use straight Hoppes #9 lube and never thought about mixing it with anything.  Hoppes leaves me with a fairly clean bore after a range session and multiple loadings are easy with no swabbing.  How does your mixed lube load/seat after a dozen or so rounds without swabbing?

I'm with Tim and Dogshirt. For hunting I use Crisco and nuke it on the patches, put them in a bullet board. that's 5 or 6 patches a yr, rest of the time it's spit, as soon as I load my gun I stick another patch in my mouth and chew on it til I'm ready to load again. I was advised to do this about 70 yrs. ago but like most of you I had to try all sorts of stuff before I found that spit is the best and most accurate, the cheapest, the easiest to use and never have to clean between shots.  Hank12

dunno yet how the mix works, I dont shoot much in summer, and now its a heat wave, Its always 100% humidity here, and for the last week + the temperature has been somewhere between unbelievable, and holy crap! I work outside, and by the end of the day, I can hear my fat sizzle. When it gets like that, i,m like a human sprinkler  I probably couldnt load a batch of dry powder If I had to. I did get a batch of patches lubed, just heated a small jar in microwave and once it got cool enough, I just dipped and squeezed in stacks, just like the plain hoppes.  I usually swab between shots anyway. lately most of my range has been with one or another .32 cal, and I learned with them, its easier to swab every shot than deal with a stuck ball every so often  &) maybe next time ill just shoot and reload a few times just to see the shot count average till the inevitable (for me at least, or so it seems) ball that makes it about halfway down, then decides this is where I want to stay, no matter what. My 50 cals will go all day no swabbing if I so choose. but I get about 4-5X the shots per pound of lead/ powder with the .32 and just as much fun, so they have been getting used a lot more lately. Once it cools a bit here, ill be back at it, so for now im sitting inside playing with the neccesaries for my toys    'shok'  I could just never get used to going around with a piece of rag in my mouth, just never liked it I guess.  I usually keep a bottle of windex in my range bag, Ive tried it as lube, seemed to work fine, maybe someday ill try just wetting a batch of patches in water, but for now, hoppes just seems good to me. theres always been a bottle of it near the gunsafe, dad used it, and passed its virtues on to me...Dads been gone a few years now, but the hoppes sticks with me   ;D

Where are you located squeeze?

We are in north Mississippi, and SO FAR, I would call this summer mild in comparison to last summer.

(The fact that I am 130 lbs. lighter don't hurt either..)

I go to the range every Saturday, and it has been fairly pleasant in the shade..

Haha I live abt central Jersey shore.  and no, I dont sound or act anything like the jersey shore cast. around here half the houses are summer rentals. They go for abt 4 times as much a week in summer as they do a month in winter, most dont even rent winters, they pay the mortgagewith just a few weeks rental summers. They attract all the north jersey/ NY crowd. course many buisnesses rely on the revenue, but for most locals, thats NOT the jersey shore, thats just what we have to deal with every summer.  So I have the coast humidity, and for the last week or 2 its been 95-100+ on the thermometer, so worse when you factor the heat index.  so If I spend any offtime outside lately, its usually fishing now instead of shooting

As a matter of fact, just a dab of Hoppes behind each ear does make a man irresistible, or so I've heard.   [hmm]
