nice smoothy! have you shot any roundball out of her. i've only tried shot in mine, gots some roundballs for it just aint had a chance to try it

Actually I have better luck with round ball, not to good with shot never was.  Let me know what you use with shot to tighten the load up, and max yardage.  My bore is .620 and I am using .600 ball with .010 patch, at 70 gr FFG. Great shooter with or without patch.  If you buy a mold get a good one. I bought a "bag" mold for authenticity. it cast .600 one one side and .615 to .620 on the other, that was fun loading...Went with Lee mold ..no more trouble..

where did you get your bag mould from. mine holds a good pattern just using a regular load but there are ways to tighten them up. you could try making shot cups from post-it notes wrapped around a piece of 5/8 dowel rod,or you could have the barrel jug chocked.usually costs around a hundred bucks and isn't supposed to affect roundball accuracy.

Got the bag mold from Track of The Wolf.

I will try the shot cup.

You ever heard of putting corn meal in with shot???

david32cal

i've heard of it but have never tried it myself, might be worth a try to see if it would tighten up your pattern.

"...i might get a 62. cal 20gauge bbl from green mtn for my hawken..."

FYI...GM discontinued production of both their .54cal/.28ga and .62cal/.20ga drop-in smoothbore barrels a  couple years ago and last year held a $100 clearance sale to move out the few barrels they had left in inventory.

So if you're pretty sure you want one, it might be best to start routinely checking gun auctions and forum classifieds no to see if one might turn up on the used market, as there really wasn't that many of them, particularly in Flint.
