I hope you get it worked out.  I've never liked any "patent" breech as they give nothing one doesn't already have but take reliability from most barrels.

Mike responded back to me on an email that I sent him in February.

At least he is still kicking... By my calculations we have lost 1/3 to 1/2 of the members to the reaper....

I don't know who is the oldest but at 79 I'm on the short list.

I'll just add that only a few days separate me officially from 76.  That may sound worse than it actually is.  It's because todays "76" is the new 75.

For those of you that are still holding out some hope for me.....It made smoke today! I slightly coned the vent liner, poured 60 grains of 3f down the barrel and tapped it real good to make sure it worked its way into the breech put 3 grains of 4f into the late Ketland lock and  bunkr BOOM! (Well I did pull the trigger [hmm])Made me a happy camper. Now its time to do some more sighting in and work up a good load and take her on a hunt hntr

Shooting at watermelons ......... one of my favorites !

Hanshi

I kinda prefer eating MY watermelons.  Iffin you live in Georgia (probably other deep South states as well) you might find some "citrons" which look like watermelons that never ripen and stay green inside.  They are tough but also should explode fairly well when hit.  55 years ago some friends and I stumbled onto a field of them out in the boonies.  We figured we'd found a neglected field of watermelons and would take advantage of it.  We loaded up the bed of a pickup truck full of them.  Later when we decided to avail ourselves of this treasure we got an unpleasant surprise.  While they all had the appearance of ripened watermelons and a big knife was brought to bear, they were tough and unusually difficult to cut.  When we split it, other than a spot of pink here and there, it was "rind" all the way through.  We tried a couple more of them with the same results.  As country boys we knew what citrons were but these really fooled us.  They were in a very large patch but one grown up with weeds and not in really nice rows but HEY! the patch was full of hundreds of them.  Never in my life have I seen a complete field of them, I was used to finding very small patches scattered around.  I'm sure they must have some other use than as shooting targets.  (susp) noway
