Just started on the maple 1/2 stock from Mongrel. This one is getting a flintlock CVA 1" 50 cal barrel. I broke the "cheap rules" by getting a Chambers late Ketland lock, but what decent flintlock is cheap?  LR hawken triggers and a hawken steel guard will be browned with all other furniture being brass. This will be my first flint build so live and learn   strpot

you`re starting with quality parts , just take your time and dont try to rush anything , betting it`ll turn out fine !

You definitely have the skills so good luck!

Little more progress. Finished inletting triggers and attaching the guard to the trigger plate. Tang bolt tapped to plate also. New experience as I have never tapped bolt holes before. Only broke 2 taps  pnic

Looking good and still anticipating the final  outcome.

It's been a month with no update.. Just working slow??  Looked like pretty great start last time you posted....

I agree with Doug.  Progress so far?  It still bothers me that we've not only "seemingly" lost Mongrel from the forum but that we've all lost an excellent and ethical builder.  :'(

Haven't found the time to do much on it in the last month, other than a little shaping on the stock.  I took it with me to Natchez to get some advice and tips from the guys at TVM. I also was able to handle a nice Natchez Poor Boy 45 cal exactly like the one they are going to build for me.

Good except you're putting the lock and cheek pieces on the wrong side... Some of us are "lefties" here and we know you want us to be able to shoot it when you finish just so we can give an unbiased opinion of it's performance.

I didn't know the lock could be on the other side hdslp

Some do. Unfortunately when you give a real firearm to a lefty to shoot, they wind up shooting behind themselves. Duck!  blah   hdslp
I am the one your mom warned you about!

Got a little more progress done this morning. More shaping and sanding on the stock and inlet the lock panel area. I may try a c scroll carving behind the cheek rest just to practice for the up coming Haines project  pnic.
What a difference a nice vise makes!
