Yup,I rode in my younger day's,'38UL,'42VL,both chopped. Sure wish I had that 80" flat head back! 3 speed stump puller! And yes I have Tatoo's also, ring a bell now? blah

Actually, if you were to walk up to my booth now (ignoring the logistical problems of the Shoots not going on right now and neither of us actually being there), if we spoke before I would probably -- vaguely -- remember.

GOOD! One of us should! Are you familiar with Anson and Judy Morgan? Very good freind's of mine. Only tradtional Muzzleloading shop left here in Mi that I'm aware of. Ray Frank's of Sitting Fox is here, but he doesn't have a "store" in the classic sense. Set up fpr show's and such, head's to Florida in the winter.

If they set up at the Shoots, I'm sure I know who they are, but I would need a face-to-face actual intro to have even a halfway good chance at remembering. Not only do I encounter a lot of people at Friendship but my short-term memory has never been good and is definitely not improving. I flat-out tell people as we shake hands and exchange names that I'm not rude or thoughtless, but that tomorrow I will need a quick recap of what we discussed the day before to be able to remember. It's why, now, the instant a conversation goes into definite "business" mode, the notebook comes out, and the first thing written down is my own name, just as a reminder of who I'm writing the notes for.

If they're not regulars at the Shoots then it's a safe bet I don't know them. I plan to get out and around more, literally broaden my horizons beyond an hour's drive of where I live, but so long as I work a full-time job and am following my building schedule it's going to take awhile to become familiar with places and people outside my own area.

Mongrel, I was at a Festival in Greenville Ohio "Prairie Days on Shawnee Prairie"
I was with the Long Hunter camp friends from the Fort Greenville Muzzle Loaders.
A young man and his dad were asking questions and he said that he had been to Friendship.
He told of this Awesome guy that helped him out with a Rug Rat Rifle and how He (you) used old CVA's to make them.
He couldn't recall the name of the business so I fixed you up and gave them your name. [hmm]
So if you start getting calls from western Ohio, that Young man and his dad are good agents for you!
And you are Famous up this way now too. thmbsup

I always said I'd prefer fame over riches. I always thought it was a silly question or I might have been more careful how I answered.... hdslp

Thank you for the feedback and the help. I was told by Mike Miller (a very fine builder and very kind man) that if I wanted to be slightly famous and way more busy than I can stand, say the word and he and John Curry will start things moving to make it happen. I laughed and said, "Do it."

All I can say is, it's liable to be one hell of a ride.

I know I am late but I was trying to find this photo:  Ya mean a biker like this one?

Yeah, that's the guy! Rides the black Harley with shotgun pipes!

Now we need one of a bearded guy in buckskins, carrying a Lyman GPR, who answers to either Bear or Ol' Griz!

No, I was late getting acquainted with most of the folks involved in the running of the NMLRA. I would probably know her to look at, if she were pointed out to me, but I haven't had any dealings with her.

ROFL ROFL ROFL

In all seriousness, I might be at odds with most of the civilized world on this point, but IMHO there are many worse things than being a stereotypical biker or buckskinner.

I did own one Harley, a Sportster that I hated with a passion. IIRC it was a '79, could be mistaken on that, details from my life at that time are mostly lost in a deep, deep fog -- it was a "transitional" year model that few if any aftermarket parts will work on and that was built at about the lowest point of Harley's AMF-owned nightmare phase. My two favorite rides were actually both Triumphs, one a '62 Bonneville pre-unit in a Drag Specialties hardtail frame and the other a '66 Bonny that I stretched, raked, and lowered the swingarm frame on to give about 8" more wheelbase and put my skinny butt about 25" off the ground, and that was with a comfy king/queen seat.

Now we derail from "special persons" to "special rides" and I sense the forces of Right, Justice, and the American Way ready to pounce on us discussing a non-muzzleloading topic. But I did love not only those two Trumps but the other two (or was it three?) I also owned. I would give a lot but know I will never have the chance to have the '66 back.

Well as long as we are turning this into a confessional, mine was a 1936 Indian all chopped out and painted Kelly Green
I wish I had it back in the original configuration.

Recently Mike but a replacement barrel into an Investarms/Cabels stock, as requested.  The other week I took it to a shoot, without trying it out or sighting in beforehand.  When shooting at 25 yards offhand, I ACTUALLY HIT THE TARGET.  That is a first, offhand.  I am very pleased with Mikes work.  Today I took it to the range and did some serious bench shooting.  trying to work up a load and also firelap the barrel.  didnt take long,  50 gr 2F, .490 rb, .015 lubed patch=  tight group on 2nd target.I had a very enjoyable day on the 25yd and 50 yard targets.  The barrel shoots much beter than any other rifle barrel on any of my other bp guns.  I may even try the 100 yard targets with this barrel.    Thanks again Mike (Mongrel).

Just got my second rifle from Mike last week. I'm very happy with it, the way Mike represented it, AND the way the whole thing went. ;D
