My gun has a plastic rear sight screwed onto the top of the barrel. Does anybody know of a good source for a replacement sight that would look right on a Hawkins?

You could put a Lyman reciever sight on it but they are a bit pricy.  If you are handy with a file and a hacksaw you could easily fit a buckhorn rear sight, if you wanted, in about an hour by filing in a dovetail.  Are you sure it is screwed in rear sight and not set in a dovetail?

Definately screwed in. When I got the gun it was not assembled. I put the plastic sight on it just to keep moisture out of the screw holes until I can find a better way of fixing it.

Who made your gun? CVA? Traditions? Interarms? Deer Creek Products, or Track of the wolf, even dixie gun works sells sights that will slip into the dove tail groove with a little bit of work.
