That sight can be used facing either direction depending on your preference. I have seen them installed both ways. in fact I have rifles with similar sights and one came with the sight set as a ramp like yours and the rest face the other way.

As far as how accurate the various balls and bullets are with different twist rates: there is only one way to find out how well they work in your gun, try them out. It is the only way to find out. I can tell you what I have found that works or doesn't work in mine but that is just a starting place for another gun, not a hard and fast rule. Try out any combination you want to and see how well it works.

William , over the years , I've tried many different configurations of both front and rear 'iron" sights . The problem I have with a brass blade front sight is My eyes are very sensitive to the light reflectins "shine" caused by the sun hitting the blade at different angles . With the ramp of the blade towards the rear , to me , it makes the blade appear taller than it is and I would tend to have a poi much lower then with a "smoked" or darkened blade . Also the sunlight comming over one shoulder or the other tended to move the poi left or right. To me ! the ramp being to the rear made this even more pronounced . This may not be a serious problem for other shooters with more normal vision . (susp) flwa [conf] [hmm]
While I have your attention , I have a questio ? Is there a Blacksmith Supply near your place ?  Someone had mentioned it but I forgot the name of the company . thmbsup

Well Gordy, I think the brass sight shows up better than the iron one did, at least for my eyes, especially when shooting off-hand, plus the catalog where I bought that sight from shows that this is the correct way to install it.  If I look at it from the side I think it's backwards, but shouldering the rifle it looks normal.

I don't know of a blacksmith supply in my area but I can find out for you.

No problem, but I got to looking at their catalog and found some things I can use myself, never knew they were here in town either until you asked.  They've got beeswax at 1/10 the price of the arts & crafts shops too, I may have to go over there and buy some.
