I had a very frustrating talk with my sister and 20 year old niece last night.
My niece went to the local clinic for a checkup and vaccination for chicken pox. while she was thewre the doctor told her she should get the HPV vaccine (Gardasil) at the same time. She told the doctor she did not want that shot as she disagrees with it and that she wanted it put in her record that at no time under any circumstances is she to be given that one.
Well, guess what--- the doctor took it upon herself to order it for her anyway even though she was told that was not wanted. My niece was given the shot against her will and was not given the respect that would be given to a dog at the vets office. She would sue if she could find a good attourney that would take the case. She's not after money but is wanting the clinic and that doctor to face some form of consequences for going against her wishes.

Voy- having been in the medical profession for lo many years- that is your call on vacinations!  you don't have to take the hepatitis vacine, you don't have to give your child every one that comes along, except on some they can't go to school if you don't- but a 20 year old lady should be able to decide what she wants on a voluntary one, same as a flue shot.  Just my to cents worth, rather trust my vet than lots of doctors!!!

Thats my thought as well. The thing is, my niece DID say she did not want that shot and the doctor gave it to her anyway. I no longer trust the clinic here before this but now I have a very strong dislike for them.

Did they hold her down and force it on her or did the doctor convince her to get it?Or was deceit used? They could not have given her a shot against her will. If force or deceit was used then there is a problem. If she was convinced that she need it and changed her mind well then....

They deceived her into thinking it was a meningitis and chicken pox vaccine she was being given, as she was willing to take those 2 but had told the doctor that under no circumstances would she accept the Gardasil, and that she wanted it put into her records that she does not want that vaccine ever.   I ran into the doctor today and she admitted to me that she gave it to her and that there is nothing my niece can do about it because it is already done.
This one needs to be removed from the medical practice if she will knowingly and willingly do something when the patient refuses it, even when the patient is a legal adult.

If she admitted to you that she knowingly went against her patient's wishes, I would think there is  legal recourse, ie: malpractice, suit or others- your a witness to her admitted malpractice (and arrogance), people like this doctor must and should be held accountable.

Thats what I think to. And she did admit it to me.

Voy,

Have your daughter file a complaint with the state medical board: http://www.state.mn.us/portal/mn/jsp/home.do?agency=BMP

Make sure she includes a statement from you. Persue action, that ain't right.

Its my niece not my daughter. But THANK YOU for the info. As you said, this just aint right. This quack has done this to other people I know up here as well. She should not be practicing medicine.
