Ok I fixed it to add that catagory - sorry I don't know how to rearrange the questions without clearing the results and starting over...

I take my guns for walks and if I get something, great , If not, no big deal. If I won't eat it, I won't shoot it. When I was younger, my stepdad and I provided a lot (most) of the meat the family ate.  hntr

Grey beard sounds a lot like me.  Love to go out and when shooting birds, it is nice to get enough for a BBQ meal at the end of the day...Nice to sit around the fire with a beer and grill some birds...Getting to be more fun to watch the kids shoot than to shoot myself....

:) I always like to shoot critters and eat them. I never wanted to shoot myself tho', a friend did that once and it was kinda messy!

I hunt to put food on the table, yet I also hunt forthe enjoyment of being out there. I have passed taking many deer because they were larger than what I wanted.

My sentments exactly. I go into the woods and follow my gun. I've passed on Deer because it was getting late and it's a lot of work to gut, haul, clean and cut up in the same day. I hunt out of a primitive camp 90% of the time.

hntrUsed to trap for extra money when I was a youngster and for extra meat for the family, haven't now for for over 40yrs, now iffin I'm to hunt it's to eat, and like I've heard here, only that I can use all of. My Dad taught me, take only that what you can use and give Thanks to the creature that gives of itself to you. A rule I always follow.

i go to sit in the wood to see what happens. passed on about 20 deer in the past couple of years. if i get something great. if not i had a nice day in the woods [conf]

I like Graybear's comment, "I take my guns for walks."  I seldom go out to shoot anything, and if I do see a fox or beaver, I'm more interested in watching 'em than trying to kill 'em.  I get my deer for meat, and that's about it.

I got my trapper's license last year, but more out of interest than to actually trap much.

We do have a squirrel excess, however, so we may be having squirrel stew soon. And fish and snapping turtle are both on the menu for this year.
