This weekend I bought a new 8 foot long by 7 foot high wedge tent . got it home made the poles/structure and tried to set it up by myself and find I cant do it. it seems as though I should be able to do this by myself. any thoughts? suggestions?
I can set up a 10x12 wall tent by myself, so I know there has to be a way to do it with this little tent.

I saw a guy set up a diamond by his lonesome . He staked the center back loop , the forward right loop, set the pole in front center with a rope on it at top and kept tention on the rope till he had it stake out front a ways ,then followed the rope with his hand so it wouldnt tip over, then staked the other side down . He did it quicker than I typed this :)

Lay out the canvas, stake down one side. Put in your ridge pole and uprights. Put loop for uprights around the spike stiking out. Have stake and mallet ready to use.

You walk up the uprights against the tension of canvas that is already staked down. You willl actually end up with the upright slithly leaning away from the staked down side as you put in the stakes for the guide ropes coming off of the uprights both fore and aft. Once you get those two ropes set, then you can rest the uprights to be vertical and make the staked side taut. Then stake down the other side. Now you can put in your floor if you have one.

That should work for a wedge tent by yourself.

What Mike said. Wedge tents are fairly easy to do by yourself. Its easier to use this process if you have the grommeted holes at the peak of the tent to put the upright poles into. Also, after you get the upright erected, put a stake into the door loops at each end of the wedge so you know how far out to put the other 2 corners.

what Mike said makes good sense and I'm going to try again tonight. One question; what keeps the uprights from sliding as you pull them up? I basically tried that last night but the uprights kept sliding toward me as I pulled. must be doin somethin wrong???

PS: I do have grommets at the peak.

put a block --like 2x6 with a notch cut in it and a  hole drilled on the other end-- place the  uprights in the notches put a tent stake in the hole in 2x6 now when you pull the  uprights will stop at the end of the notch and the ridge pole  will pull them up

My ridge poles are drilled and uprights have metal pins in them.
