That is good for you first set with a flinter. I am not trying to take any thing
from your shooting, but most places would have counted them as in the 9
ring. Most places I have shot at even if 99% of the hole inside of the ring
and you cut the ring it will be counted as being in next bigger ring. on the
other hand that is still good shooting

Hm, well, if it breaks the next ring up, it'd count as ten, unless yer a squid, then its 9.5 bells.............

Depends upon the scoring method.  NRA scoring would call them 10s.  NMLRA scoring which goes by the center of the ball would give them each a 9.

No matter what method you use it seems you have definitely figured out where the rifle is shooting.

I thank you all for the information.  I did not know about the NMLRA scoring system... I have always used the NRA system... seems a bit easier if it cuts the ring it counts as the next higher score  don't have to try and find dead center of the hole...

Look at it this way.  If you hit a deer in the heart but instead of drilling right through it just hit the edge and only plowed a furrow across it, is that deer just "winged" or is it venison?   I'd say venison because I've done just that!
Young guys should hang out with old guys; old guys know stuff.

When I go a NMRA event I'll keep their scoring system in mind...  I started our great Pistol challenge using NRA scoring and unless overrulled by the powers above I will stay with it for this shoot... hdslp

The NMLRA uses their method because someone shooting a .58 would have a big advantage over someone shooting a .32.  Both people could hit in the same spot but the .58 would cut the line and .32 would not.  They use the center of the ball for scoring to keep everything on a level playing field.

In NRA matches most people shoot bullets that only a few thousandths different in diameter from one another so the NRA system pretty well works equitably under those conditions.

Red Badger

that makes sense... Never stopped to think about it like that.... Thanks Mike!

See I learn sumpin new every day!
