This is my one and only  blackpowder pistol  Its a traditions kentucky .50 cap lock   I built it about a year and half ago  and i am ashamed to say i have not shot it yet.  I dont have a place to target shoot  but im working on finding one  The forest service lands i hunt around home  dont allow target shooting since everyone and their dogs started draggin out old washing machines and the like shooting them up and than leaving them . Sad how a few idiots ruin it for everyone . But its understandable  I would rather the funds be used to stock fish in the lakes and do other management things rather being used for cleaning up junk......  But anyhow  here is the pistol...

In the pic  i know the nose cap is off  I have since fixed that  didnt notice it till i took the pic  lol

front sight on backwards? other than that it looks nice

ThunderHeart

LOL  yep  that was the other thing i caught when i took that pic and posted it on another board i go to  Think Micanopy pointed it out to me  .. I had forgot about that  hehehe....

Nice job, would like to hear how it shoots when you get a chance.

ThunderHeart,
Good job on the pistol.
I hope you are successful in finding a good place to shoot! I have the same problem here in Colorado. A few have ruined a lot of privileges for a lot of us.
Anyway those pistols can be suprisingly accurate!I have two Lyman in .50 cal perc. and two Pedersoli`s in flintlock .54 cal.

How do the 54's group for you?
Been threatenin' to get a 54 flinter and just never do.

Actual groups from the Pedersoli .54 flinter were around 4-6" at 15-20 yards. These were all shot offhand.
I am sure with some load tinkering and a rest these size groups could be reduced. So far these pistols have been
very dependable on ignition. I use a very light priming charge and that has worked out great.

Adopted a two handed hold for my rabbit rocker, laying my left hand along side the stock. Would get you thrown off a movie set and anybody you were shooting against would yell foul, but it works for me. Kinda got my hopes up for trying something bigger. Maybe some day.

I will try that laying my lefthand along side the stock!
What caliber is your rabbit rocker?

NW Wildman

That's it at left. Fast twist 9mm with single set trigger and adjustable rear built by Chris Hirsch back around 1980.

Some folks call that a mountain man hold, and I have seen it use in a lot of
compition shoots and no one said it could not be used. So dd what ever it
takes
All gave some Some gave all

You are  sure right about the washing machines.  Always did like shooting fish better.  That's from back in the good old days..now I think they frown on the practice.
