the  picture below is my .40cal smooth bore  ,where ever i take it to i always get some  odd looks as most shooters think a .40 is a joke as far as smooth-bores go .but i can tell you they are not  i have taken squirrels and rabbits that would rival any modern .410 so to add to the  humor i added a flint-lock cock and frizzen  it is still a percussion but now  is similar to the "Gloucher pill lock of the early  percussion years my load of 50gr 3f over powder wad and equal volume of shot then an over shot card will punch on scale wit the short .410 and plus at 35yards it will still group the .395 rb into a 2" group i can ,go up on the shot  load but what i have works just fine  plus the fun factor of this  gun is about as high as you  can get and at just over 3lbs what else could you ask for  on a small days hunt or in a canoe float  thmbsup

I have won way more than my share of shoots with "Ole Wormy". 65grs3f,.400 round ball or 1-1/2 measure of shot. The bore is tapered and is one of the last barrels Bill Large made.

I can attest to the accuracy of that little smoooothie...its not my youngest daughter's first bp gun and yes its reeeeeeaally accurate!

Did I missread or did you say 3 pounds?  My BB gun weighs more than that!  What a cool gun!
Young guys should hang out with old guys; old guys know stuff.

Dryball, I see your signature picture of a full blown Crockett.  Last one was a stubby.  Are you back into Crocketts again?  I can't see being without one.

Yup. I've seen the light! The Crockett is closest to my conception of what mr. average po folks hunter would have owned in ye olde days. She's usable from either shoulder, inexpensive yet reliable, accurate, without frills, cheap to shoot, and yet still powerful enough for most close range duties. Don't know why it took me so long to finally see it's ideal for me.

I like it, Tom...
It gives me an idea   [hmm]
