Ned,
I know diddle about rondy's and gear but I think you'd look cool with your head shaved like the guy in Jeremiah Johnson?  The one who rode around yelling all the time so the Indians would think he was crazy and leave him alone.  You wouldn't have to yell though --
As to losing weight, I just lost almost 20 with some dietary changes you would not like - not at all. :-&

Dryball

Tom...what do you mean by this? "You wouldn't have to yell though"

O.K. biggest and cheapest change!!

  Lose the wrist watch!!!
Learn to tell time by the hand and horizon method or get a pocket watch.
i have a nice daily hand wind Skeleton watch, (pocket watch with glass face & back to see the inner workings.

I also have a extremely old railroad watch that still works. i had it repaired 10 years ago when i lived in Colorado Springs, and the watch maker said if it ever breaks again i am screwed because the last parts available for that model west of the mississippi river are inside it. So it sits in a case...

Speaking of which... wanna trade ? watch for 1860 army?

the metal framed glasses will still work, but wrist watches oh no.

oh, and what ever bag or accutriments you find you don't need, please think of me, all donations accepted...

just thought i would pull your chain.

he was depicting a real person named "del gue" and ned this jeremiah johnson is based on the true story of john johnston also known as liver eatin johnson, aka the crow killer. like i have been saying, go to your public library and get "crow killer" by thorpe. it will help you alot with what you want to do

Dryball

Jean...read again....I have been mortally insulted by inferring that I don't have to yell to be considered crazy. I'm not sure yet, but I think a duel may be imminent.

Ned

this is good advice! loose the watch, however, before 1850 no mountain man could have afforded a "pocket watch" i have an 1853 Illinois "railroad watch" and you know there wernt any railroads before that. also the few pocket watches that were made before 1850 would have been sooooo expensive that only the very, very, very rich could afford something like that. i mean seriously, do you see a mountain man in 1830 ponying up $150 dollars for an unreliable novelty? seriously, that equals what 4 maybe 5 top of the line hawkens rifles. so loose the watch, dont get another. you dont need one. time doesnt exist in the mountains.

Dryball

You are both right, I forgot to remove it. rdfce Next time I'll hide it in my breechclout....is that acceptable?

No offense intended--although I can see how it would seem that way.  People generally leave old bald guys alone and having very little hair left (haven't gone to a barber since haircuts were $6.50) and being an old guy, I know this to be true.  Course I also yell at lot as my kids and grandson can tell you.

As to duels, I shoot flint smoothbore with shot -- especially at skeet.  Shot 21 out of 25 today in the wind.  Given a choice of weapons, I'd call for flint smoothbores with shot at skeet using station #7 low house. hntr

Ned I think you'll impress us all if you can hide that in your clout with NO POCKETS!

Tom..I'd love to shoot skeet with you...just wish I had a good smoothbore...maybe someday.

Ned

Dryball

Bruce...who said no pockets? All clouts need pockets!

Ned

Any improvement?

And a photo of the bag.

Hey Ned!  Looking good!  You are getting there.  Will look better when you add the hawk and knife.
