Well, I wore out a pair of soft soled mocs. at this recent rendezvous due to all the rocks...no foot pain because of some good advice from all you guys about insoles. But...I need a pair that will laugh this kind of treatment off....hard soles, boots, what? Help!

afraid good mocs are gonna cost ya! Poppens are about the best around starting around $150. I have some Dyers but they're stiff buggers and run around $250. For good and cheap I have had good luck with the minnetonka soft soles, but they aren't PC.

Arrow Moccasins run along the same lines as Dyers but are a whole lot cheaper.

I bought a pair of arrow center seams about 3 years ago. While they were fairly well made, they were THE UGLIEST mocs I ever saw, and sure didn't look like any center seams I know of... I sent them back

I like their Bush Boots.  I got a bad ankle and they're just the thing for support.  Most of the time I still make my own but those are nice for certain occasions like a weeklong rendezvous when I'm walking a lot.

I have been told a thick layer of shoe goo on the bottom of the moc works well to slow down the wear thru.. Never have tried it myself though..

Bear Medicine

I have.  When I make boots to do the ren thing, I put a solid layer of shoe-goo on the sole.  It gives a little extra cushion and really good traction too.  Also makes the bottoms waterproof.  Haven't put any on my shoe-pacs yet but I'm thinking I will on my winter mocs.

I wear buckle shoes that I got from Jas Townsend - work well here in TX.  May get some hi-low trekkers from Fugawee soon

I for one love the Poppens. I have a pair and my Ex had as well. Paul and his kids do a great job on them and for the money you cant beat them. They are custom made for your foot and wear like iron.Have known Paul for years now and have always found him to be great to deal with.  If ya do go with Poppens, Tell Paul that Frenchy from Ely says hi.
