Any idea of what one would expect to pay to have a pretty simple inscription added to a horn she owns? I have found someone I want to do it, but don't know how much to expect to pay. Just want a simple "Lady of the Woods" with a curlyque or two to match my fine Dangler rifle.

That would depend on the persons percieved reputation. I have seen some outrageously priced work that I wouldn't give 2 cents for, and other times its so cheap I wonder whats wrong with it. Basically if you like the persons work you can generally come to an agreement on cost. Never hurts to ask!

good points, but I hate to throw a blind number out. I don't want to be a cheapskate but also don't want to blow money either. This person doesn't have a "reputation" just a very high skill level.

Did you ask them for an estimate? Sometimes it might be less than you think...

I agree with Stumblin Wolf.  Talk to the artist and ask for an estimate.  I'm sure you can come to an agreement.

well folks I never did get an answer from my friend who did this work, what I decided is I couldn't afford to pay him what it is worth to me! So the best thing I can do is show off his work and tell you how to contact him if you like it and want him to do something for you. here is his first attempt at a "Simple" scrimshaw.please pardon my bad pictures.

My friend's name is Doug Roush, if you want to contact him or want more info, PM me and I'll be happy to give it to you!
