Got me a purdy new horn from Oregon Hunter and don't want to use my usual way of carrying it...gobs of leather shoelaces. I need a special, neat way to carry this horn...it's gonna be my rendezvous horn and I want it to be just right. So, who has a neat strap set up suitable for a fine horn? Appreciate any ideas. Thanks,

Ned

Latigo strap, canvas, cotton weave, burlap or hemp?

Jerry, I have no idea what those are. And how do you attach a wide strap to the horn?

I have only heard of them and I don't how to properly attach a strap yet; still learning
For now I use bag horns

Ned, I prefer a leather strap on my horn, heres a pic of the end of the strap, you can make any design fob for the end, this strap also has a roller buckle on it for adjusting when wearing heavy clothing .

You can also attach the horn to your pouch straps.

Great photo, that really helps. But on my horn the front attachment point is a groove....how would this be handled?

Ned I got a sash from my little bro by the way of bwhoffman that I REALLY like.  It has long fringe on the ends that I just tied in little knots to the staple and the loop.  Easiest way I know of!  I'll try and post a pic after class tonight.

Ned, use a 1/2" wide strip from the main strap, whatever lentgh you want, then slit it in the middle just enough that the horn protrudes through the slit, slide it over the tip of the horn and on to the horn ring/groove, trying to find a pic for ya

Thanks David, I'd like to see a photo.

What I do gotta get is a strap or chain to keep me from loosing the plug!

I like the way this horn was done...a strip of rawhide holds the tip on with just a little tension. No way is this tip going anywhere.

I weave horn straps on my Inkle loom, they are about an inch wide. Here's some pics of a strap attached to one of my horns and also a sample of some of the patterns I weave.
