I have been using hoppes #9 plus for about a year now.  I can shoot all day and never have to swab the bore.  Clean up is easy as can be, accuracy is very good,  ball goes down easy (2 fingers after starting).  Lately it is hard to find. I thought i had ordered 3 quarts but recieved regular #9 instead.  I may try it and see how it works.

I'm interested in GO-JO thing. Back when I was a wrench for FOMOCO,(when it was uncle Henry's place),the GO-JO we used had a grit to it,might be good to fire lap a barrel, but not for everyday use. Have they changed in the last 30 years?(what hasn't)

You can get GO-JO with or without the grit. You can also get waterless hand cleaner with an orange scent(like the Bore-Butter in pine scent). Might work as a cover scent for those hunting in Florida or California.

I have tried many different ones and finally  settled on the sweet oil. I prefer the extra virgin olive oil as it is finer quality and does not foul the gun at all after many shots and is great when ya go ta clean it as everything just wipes out of the bore real fast and easy, cutting my cleaning time to less than half of what it was with any of the bought bore lubes.
Aint sure why but it just works better for me.

I just use spit at the range and in competition.  I use Wonderlube for hunting.

I tried a lot of different stuff back when I first started.  I quit using the greasy lubes because the rifle would crud up too fast.  With the wet lubes like Hoppe's, winshield washing fluid and hand cleaner I could shoot all day without cleaning.  Back when I was first starting out there was a fellow who used to shoot rather well.  He was an obnoxious PITA but he did shoot well.  I noticed all he used was water on his patches.  I thought if water works well why not spit.  I started spit patching and it worked as well as anything else I had tried.  It is more convenient than packing around lubed patches and I generally have plenty of it.

When I started muzzleloading I used spit patch and it worked fine.  Don't do that any more; I run dry to easily.  I just ordered a gallon of Hoppes #9 Plus and that should last me a while.  It is hard to find and I've been unable to find any at all locally.  I think it has something to do with inlines and businesses catering to them.  Hoppes is great stuff and along with Black Solve has relieved me from looking for anything else.  I'm on my last few drops of #9 Plus but should have a gallon of it in a few days.
Young guys should hang out with old guys; old guys know stuff.

I use cotton muslin from the store, tear into strips, soak it in melted down lard and tie a strip to my bag, start the ball and cut it with the patch knife.
Getting ready to make a new patch and am going to play with a mix of some kind, lard, mixed with beeswax or olive oil. I keep the extra strips in a ziplock bag and stick them in my little shop fridge.

Made these today, used bore butter and peanut oil then had to work them down a bit to be drier.
I put 4 of these into a small container that goes in my bag, tie one to my horn strap then put the rest in a ziplock bag and into my small shop fridge.

Deer tallow is my favorite . And free. Used groundhog&beeswax 20 some years. But the deer has it beat as it don"t need the wax, it don"t run out of tins  in hot weather. I use bear lard for match. Dilly
