Don't know if others realized it but I noticed, quite some time ago, that "The Campfire" sight has been gone away for a while.  Haven't heard anything about it being revived but who knows.

The forum had slowed down - familiar to anyone here - where on any given day there was no post or for several days running.  Often My occasional post or another member's post would be it for a while.

Okay, the chance for us to be the first great forum to die is gone.  But we are on afterburners for second.  After we kill off this one let's all go to another forum and try to kill it off.
Young guys should hang out with old guys; old guys know stuff.

I hope we can revive the site, but right now it is close to a dead one. A few of us are at least still here and hoping it doesn't go away.

On that same thought but local club level we had 9 shooters today at the Beaver Creek Freetrappers. One of the shooters was about 30 ish and a couple more in there 50s. The rest of us are in our 70s and 80s. Some of us older guys can still shoot quite well but for how long can a few older guys and even fewer young ones keep this sport up?

The "show unread posts since last visit" selection actually worked today ........things are looking up.

I wonder if interest, in general, would pick up if a truly good movie (maybe kinda like Jeremiah Johnson) were to hit the theaters.

I believe that movie was largely responsible for the resurgence of black powder shooting back when it came out. I know it made me interested in muzzleloaders.
It seems that all the sites I visit are lacking in the activity category. There is not one single store (as far as I know) in California that sells real black powder over the counter. You have to mail order it from out of state. In my searches I have found only one store in Oregon and one in Reno. That is due to BATF&E rules by the way. I learned that back when I still had a FFL.
And out here around July or so, black powder is banned from most public ranges due to fire hazard.
I had hoped that the much hyped "The Revenant" would spark a groundswell of interest in muzzleloaders, however it just wound up being 2 1/2 hours of my life that I will never get back.  :'(

Who knows, maybe if life gets back to a pre-pandemic normal, the Black Powder Dark Arts might rise up again.

I think that we have lost too many members to age. Although Hanshi will undoubtedly live forever, most of us don't. Not just their presence, but their experience and (mostly) sage advice. And to tell the truth, losing members like my other hero Mongrel, not to the black camel, but to life's circumstances, deletes a lot of motivation.

Now that I have been gifted a computer that actually works, I will try to spend more time here.

I think that we have lost too many members to age.  Well, there's that.

Although Hanshi will undoubtedly live forever, most of us don't.  I hope so but I'm not sure I'd ever get used to that diet they tell me I'll be confined to eating.
Also, if I understand correctly, finding that food is currently considered highly illegal.

Now that I have been gifted a computer that actually works, I will try to spend more time here.  I'll try as well and see if anyone responds to my posts.  Well, actually this is technically a post...right?

Yep.  Most of us are just between doctor visits.

YOU SAID IT!  I have more conversations and spend more time with doctors than all others put together.  That's not right!  Looks good for me the next few days.  Rheumatology the 16th, and something a few days later.  Right after that it's back to the hospital for my infusion.  LIFE IS WONDERFUL!  chrrs

I went to the rheumatologist yesterday and got blood drawn.

On my next cardiologist visit, I will probably be a quart low.

I have my annual 'Well visit' coming up next month. I have a list of new issues. To be honest, a lot of the issues are due to lack of getting out there. My bad. I have a couple thousand caps, some powder and lots of lead to alter (flatten and then reshape to round).
Have been sidelined but coming back.
