Well, I did it again. Just got home again from the hospital. After supper Tuesday evening. I went out back to on a stump I'm trying to get rid of. There were 2 pieces, but I got rid of one before supper. Apparently, the property is on the former flood plain or the old riverbed for the Tioga River because as I've been cleaning up and digging on the property, I've found a lot of water worn rocks from pebbles to rocks I can barely move. Apparently as I stepped on the shovel to do some digging, I found one of those rocks and the shovel twisted causing me to fall on the stump. I've got a lot of bruising on my right side, broke the 10th rib on the right side and cased a slight pneumothorax in my chest cavity. I don't care as soon as muzzleloader season comes in, I'm going out for a couple of deer.     hntr

Never quit.  thmbsup

I go for a stent on Thursday and they found out it's in one of the grafts of my triple bypass. Warfarin for 6 months afterwards but I'm going to hunt as soon as possible.

No medical issues involved with me, and I will be hunting during the muzzleloading season here in Oklahoma.

Graybear, I can empathize.  Not counting minor falls and close calls I've cracked ribs on both left and right side INSIDE THE HOUSE.  Fell in the bathroom and got a big, painful bruise on my leg.  I fell flat of my face on the sidewalk and on another instance fell flat of my back in the road (I was walking on the sidewalk).  Ignoring my squeeze's orders I went out to the front yard - she was gone for a few hours - to pull a few weeds out of the flower beds and (of course) fell.  Our house is sorta up on a bluff that goes down to the street below.  Okay.  So I fell and immediately started rolling down the embankment like a log and thinking I'd never stop.  Well I did stop and when I raised up to see where I happened to be I was flat of my face (again) on the sidewalk.  Other falls caused minor bruising and scrapes.

As a martial arts grandmaster (started as a kid) I've been thrown on the mat, on carpet and on concrete with no ill affects; I KNOW how to take a fall safely and without injury.  That knowledge has saved me from very serious injuries while outside.  Now our house is directly across the street from the multi-story brick building of the entire district 11 administrative complex.  I would imagine my roll to the sidewalk was great entertainment for the many eyes that work there.  I went inside trying to appear as dignified as possible which was laughable considering my "performance".

The bruising is fine but if I do much I have to go and cuddle up to my heating pad. I don't care, I'm going out for the PA early muzzleloader season. I'll try one of my 50 cals. If that's too much, I'll take one of my .45's. I don't care, I'm goin' huntin'.   hntr

My worst injuries are usually in bed or trying to get OUT of bed.

That's me too.  I'm used to taking walks around the block, with my cane of course.  Several weeks ago I was out when suddenly I couldn't get my feet to actually walk, they just shuffled.  That doesn't work and I fell in the middle of the street on my face.  A couple of people saw me fall and one was a lady about my age and she came to my rescue and helped me get to the curb and on the grass.  She brought a bunch of paper towels for the blood from my nose.  Another neighbor called the EMT and one also called my wife (our house was just around the block).  The EMT checked temp, BP, eyes, etc.  He helped me into our car and followed us to the house and helped me inside to where I could lie down.

I ended up in the ER getting an extensive exam and thankfully no broken bones.  The rest of me was busted up real good.  It's been nearly 2 months now and my nose is still sore as is several areas plus a bunch of boo boos that heal so very slowly. My left arm was swollen and still is just a bit.  I couldn't reach up to my head with it and am still having a bit of pain/trouble with it.

I have blacked blanked out a few times and I think that was one.  My everyday shoes have velcro instead of laces, I have real trouble with shoe laces.  But, HEY, guess what?  I'm still alive as I type this!
