Percussion with rifled bores?  Well?
Young guys should hang out with old guys; old guys know stuff.

I've been known to hunt squirrels with the small bores and Deer and elk with the 50, 54 or 58.  I've used .40 and .45 too, but found the 40 to be unreliable on deer and never had opportunity with the 45. The 45 wasn't legal on elk and now the 50 is only legal with a slug in Colorado.

Most of my black powder hunting has been with the TC Renegade and mine doesn't like patched ball so I always used the TC Maxi or the Lee REAL for hunting and most of the time it has been with the Maxi. It works very well for me.

"Percussion with rifled bores?"

The first choice of millions of hunters and the one that scores the most. I have killed many deer (more than 45) and several hogs with the standard .50 cal. rifled percussion gun.

Percussions are definitely more common/popular than flinters.
