Scored a nice deal at the gun show on a nice Pietta 1858 born in 2012. Found it on a table without a cylinder. Everything seemed to check out as far as the mechanics on it so I threw an offer at him and walked out with it and found a cylinder at Bass Pro in stock. Went back to the show the next day and found some old stock .454 balls and 44 cal. wool wads that got me all set to shoot 100 rounds. All in for just under 200 bucks!
Shot it last weekend and I think I have another hobby (susp). That is a lot of fun to shoot :applause:

I had one long ago and loved it.  I used it to shoot a vulture out of the sky!

Ah you are hooked now. I ended up with over a dozen revolvers. Of course I started my collection when you could get a brass framed revolver for around $100 and a steel framed one for $199! You did well to get your self set up at that price. Enjoy it it won't be your last.

I have several BP revolvers but the creme du la creme are my 3 Ruger Old Army revolvers. They don't miss a beat and the frame and components are strong as heck so it can't really be overloaded.

Got one of those 1858's. Mine is black (and beautiful) and came in a wooden box with a conversion cylinder. Haven't shot it yet. Wish I could say I got as good a deal as you did, but I paid just a tiny bit more. Well more than a tiny bit.
I do have two 1851 brass framed Navy revolvers, one 44, one 36. They, along with the two 1849 pocket pistols get shot a lot. And by a lot I mean once or twice a year.

nice find ! had one many years back , very accurate , mine was stolen , and I knew who did it but could`nt prove he did it ! so counted it as just another loss , then 10 years later I`m at a gunshow in york pa , and there it was on a table , so I asked the guy where he got it , he picked it up in a pawn shop in philly , asked me how I new it was mine ,so I showed him the custom loading lever catch a gunsmith made for me , asked him what he gave for it , he said 100 bucks ( he was asking 150) told me he`d let me have it for what he had in it ! basically broke so I had to pass on it ! but at 75 yards you could put bullets into a target the size of a mans chest all day with that remington ! they`re good accurate pieces ! you got a good deal  dntn

Those 1858s are a little large for me to shoot very well.  At least that is the excuse I am using right now.
