I was just wondering if any of y'all may have or know of any '51 Navy 36 cal. brassers for sale?

If you just want it to look pretty then a brass frame is nice. If you're going to be shooting it a whole bunch, a steel frame would be a better choice.

Most any outfit that sells steel frame c&b revolvers also carry the brass frame ones.  I've heard from owners who say that their brass frame Navies served them well with zero problems; and then others who complain they wore out, stretched, etc.  It may simply depend on how they are treated.  I highly doubt shooting a .36 with their modest powder capacity can damage these revolvers.  It's been cautioned by some shooters that too much force with seating the ball in the cylinder can eventually stretch the frame.  I have no idea how much validity this caution represents, but brass/bronze frames won't take the abuse that steel frames take in stride.  Brass frame Colt, Remington and some other pistols were never built with brass mainframes.  There are many shooters who are very satisfied with their brass frame Colts.  Good luck on your search.

I fully understand the weaknesses of the brass frames, how ever my ambition with said revolver, is to recreate a brass framed "Confederate" revolver, such as Griswold& Gunnison, Leech and Rigdon, Rigdon Ansley etc. I will shoot it but not like I was trying to cut trees in half. I have one already and my heaviest load is only 18 grains. I still want one but I don't want junk. Somewhere out there there should be someone with an 1851 brasser that has become disillusioned with it and wants to get rid of it. If not, I can get a new one for $260.00, I just didn't want to spend all I have. I'm sure you all understand that concept.

unfortunately, I have a disease that allows me to buy but not sell firearms...  :applause:  I think I have sold 3 in my lifetime (and got two of them back from our Founder Dryball)

I'll just add that while I was able to protect my "pets" from Red Badger he did scam me out of the beautiful 12 ga. dbl Coach Gun that I so treasured.  I've never owned a Colt, brass or steel, to my everlasting shame.  rdfce

I told you I would let you have that back for the slightly increased price of 2000.00 Unites States Dollars although I might take gold   :mini-devil-28492:
