A Few Percussion Rifles

I usually don't show muzzleloading firearms I have on social media, but I thought these rifles might trigger some discussion on the site.


The top one is a Thompson Center Cougar model I found at a pawn shop. It was dirty, but cleaned up very nicely.
The next one down is a Vincent/Ohio style rifle made with a Claro or burl stock. It is a fine shooter, but the stock is made to be braced between the bicep and shoulder.
Below that is a Tom Watson made rifle with a Sharon barrel.
Then is an Al Anderson constructed, Hawken style rifle set up with an Olympia sight for us old guys with less than perfect eyesight.
The bottom one is a mid-to-late 19th Century side by side shotgun.

Those are some great looking photos of some great looking guns.  With warmer weather coming, they may be getting restless for a trip outside.

Last week, in a period of warmer weather, I took the Watson and Anderson rifles out to the historic Ft. Lupton, CO black powder range. Both rifles are much more capable than I am and that Olympia peep sight make a dramatic difference to these 73 year old eyes!
It also helped that I was shooting with two, fine gentleman I am privileged to call friends.

Well, they are starting to take up too much room.
