Traditions Pioneer Rifle

Just won an online auction for a Traditions Pioneer rifle. It looks very clean maybe unfired and the seller says the bore is excellent. It's kind of an oddball design with a pistol grip style stock along with a traditional side-lock ignition. The barrel is 28 inches with a 1:48 twist. I expect it will be a good shooter if the bore is as it has been represented. Anyone here own one or have any knowledge of these rifles.

Congratulations !!  It should shoot just fine! And if its a cap-lock they are fine right out of the Box.... Sometimes the Flintlocks can use or need a little Tweaking before they are constant.. well Consistent as flintlocks go .....

that oddball design isn`t that oddball , used to own an english sporting rifle made in the 1840`s  had that same style stock , and probably close in size as well !  it was .45 cal , with a three leaf folding rear sight  and a blade front sight with a gold bead !  should have kept it , but things happen and you need money !

Traditions rifles are often extremely accurate; the barrels are of very good quality.  It should make a great hunting rifle.
