chrrs If you're feeling down because of turkey/deer, That's an indication it's time for a snifter of bourbon or rye; always makes things more better for me.  And as for Mondays, do like I do and mistakenly think it's still Sunday.  And it certainly is great to be picking daisies and not growing them.

And I might add that since I've long been celebrated as the world's most intelligent human - This does not count African grey parrots, dolphins, dogs, crows, octopuses/pi and bonobos who are all contenders for the grand prize - I'm willing to share my extensive knowledge concerning the making of wooden kitchen match darts.  dntn

I'm not sure I am alive or not. There has been so much smoke and ash in the air the last week I wake up sometimes and think I am in the bad place. Oh well, I will have lots of company.
I am the one your mom warned you about!

Hanshi

Hotfxr, It's still hard for me to imagine the destruction and sorrow caused by these apocalyptic fires.  The death toll makes me anxious to see all the others accounted for.

[hmm]    figured I should check in before I am deleted from this forum.  I am alive and well and still full of remarks,  well at least the remarks are humorous to me.    I have always been quick with wit and slow to comprehend what effect the remark will have on the unsuspecting  target.    So when ever I read a post that I  would answer with my wit,  I just pass.   We need to keep some sanity in this asylum.   ROFL    blah   strpot

ME ME ME.  Well past Dr.s expiration date.  Can't work like I used to. but looks like I'll make 69 in a Month .  Shoot planned from Feb25 through May 3.  Won't have energy to shoot all the matches I used to but couldn't shoot at all last year.  It's good to be alive even with a very different "normal" life.  Plan to cast round balls tomorrow after church and start organizing stuff.  I'm sure it will take all week.  Time to make smoke.

That is great to hear!  I am alive and suffering from the flu... gotta love the school kids that like to give things to the substitute.. :)  I would have liked to refused this gift however.... Doc says even with my flu shot in Nov. this strain if the bug is a nasty one but I'll be ok in a couple of days...

I'm alive and still kicking .. at least with my left foot. Retina specialist says the goo in my eyes is drying up and pulling the retina away causing a black smudge in my vision. Since I'm a bleeder, he says no surgery, just wait and see.

Hanshi

"Alive" here, too.  Just recuperating from snow shoveling.  snns

I'm still kickin'

As some of you may remember, my wife and I packed up and left Colorado.  Went to Florida for her career.  We left Colorado March 26, 2018.  Closed on a house in Florida May 7th, 2018.

We're puttin that house up for sale March 15th, 2019.  Not enjoying swamp life at all,  and that goes for most of the people here as well.

It was a good career move for my wife.  She jumped up the corporate ladder 2 rungs in one step and got a fat promotion and raise out of the deal.  Now it's my turn.  I've been fortunate to work from home while we've been in Florida.  I lost my job right after the new year -- work got slow and they cut 2 people to reduce overhead.  I've been offered a job back home in Colorado Springs and it's a huge pay raise for me, plus a huge bump in responsability.  Time for my wife to chase my career.  She's all onboard with this, because it gives her an easy PC way out of her job and nobody in the corporate world will hold it against her in the future.  HR people love these little fairytales of spouses supporting spouses and making big moves for the benefit of the other's career.  It's a perfect "out" for my wife and she won't be burning bridges by saying her husband has a career opportunity of a lifetime.

I had to fly out to Colorado in early February.  While traveling, I cought a flu bug that wiped me out.  When I got back to Florida on Feb 5th, I was sick - bad.  I had sweats and chills every hour for 5 days straight.  I was piling on clothes in layers one minute, and peeling them off - headed for a cold bath the next minute.  I've been fortunate and not ever had the flu - not since I was a kid.  I ain't been that sick in at least 35 yrs.  My dad reminded me that I'm not 25 anymore and I should probably start getting an annual flu shot.  I've NEVER had a flu shot, because I don't usually get sick.  Well, after having it - I'm gonna start getting a flu shot now.  I don't have the immune system I used to have.  It's really hard to kick a bug like that.  It ruined me.  That led to an upper respiratory infection that turned into walking pneumonia.  I didn't know I had it.  I was sicker than sick.  Went to the doctor and he sent me immediately to the ER with orders to draw blood and insert an IV.  I had an infection in my blood and it was causing chest pains and heart problems and a pounding headache that would not go away.  ER doc said he was shocked that I was still walking (conscious), and I must be tough or stupid.  I got pumped full of antibiotics and spent 2 days in the hospital.   srndr

We're packing the house and putting the finishing touches on the paint inside the house.  My wife joked that we moved into a bag of Skittles candy.  One yellow room, one blue, one green, 2 lavendar, one camel hair brown, and a pink bathroom .... it was typical of Florida architectural influence and drove both of us plumb crazy.  It's all flat white ceilings and off-white (light bisque) walls again.  We've dedicated one spare room to boxes.  The realtor said that's not an issue.  The rest of the house looks great and it should sell quickly.

I've got to fly up to Appleton, WI on March 25th and go through my initial orientation and introduction to the management team.  That's a week.  Then back to Florida to help my wife finish the packing and load her SUV on a trailer and tow it the 2,000 mile trip back to Colorado.  I should start my new job sometime in Mid--late April.

My wife has an offer coming.  She did a phone interview for another position out at Schriever AFB and it looks like they're gonna bite.  There's no relocation assistence package, so the move is on us.  We've been saving money.  I think it's gonna cost just a tick under $6k to rent the u-haul, car trailer, and buy all the boxes and tape we need + fuel, hotels and eats on the trip.

She's stuck under contract here in Florida until April 4th or 5th.  Her 401k investments are fully matured on the 6th or 7th, so she's gonna stay here at least that long.  She'd be walking away from all the employer contributions over the last 3yrs if she left before the 6th or 7th.  That's near $20k -- so another day or two won't kill her.

That's what's going on in our world.  Busy, Busy, Busy.  Can't wait to leave da swamp and head back home to the Rocky Mountains!!
