Getting Close, #20

I started this build last November but due to my wife's third retina surgery, holidays, a unheated shop and a knee injury, I was not able get much done on this one the past four months. Although the weather has been all over the place I've managed to make some good progress the past couple of weeks. It is beginning to look like a rifle.  Started with a Cherry blank, the lock is a Chambers Late Ketland, Davis #4 set triggers, 36 inch .50 cal. tapered octagon barrel,  and a pewter nose-cap and a swivel patch box lid. Still working on some stock carving, and still have all the metal and wood finishing/ageing to do before #20 is in the books

Looks like the only thing you could do to make it better would be to put the lock on the other side.

I think it's a dang handsome rifle.  Great job, of course; it could not be otherwise.  The only thing that would make it better would be to send it into my hot, little hands. AHEM!

Thanks Hanshi, I'm planing on ding it up a little adding a few beauty marks and aging it to give it that well used but not abused look.....just have to see if I still have the heart to do it

  Have to say it again, BYU-TEE-FULL!  Ahem!  I'd be happy to put those "dings" and "age marks" on that baby, er, build.
