First scratch build

Hope I haven't bitten off more than I can chew.  I'm totally open to advice, tips, suggestions and any other input anyone has to offer.

Have you done any kits or watched/helped anyone else with a build?
Even if you haven't you can do it if you have the patience to do your best and the guts to risk making a mistake.

I built a fusil de chase from a pre-inlet stock around twenty years ago. It turned out pretty nice. I thought about building the lock but figured it would be wiser to buy this one. I am planning on making the furniture. The but plate I have is a tad narrow and being a southern rifle it  won't have much furniture.

I highly recommend going back over old posts here at the home of the cheap. You will find many pictures of builds posted by our members along with descriptions and hints. And I believe most everyone who has built a rifle or two (and in some cases, dozens and more) will be more than happy to answer any questions you might have. All we ever ask is that you post pictures as you progress on your project. We love pictures and contrary to popular beliefs, it's not because many of our members cannot read.  Heck, some of us made it past the third grade. We just like pretty pictures.

Yes we do love pictures and helpful hints or sage advice that can be passed on to the next one who wants to build his/her own creation.  As for taking a long time - don't worry about it... In fact think about it this way - some of our members may be hanging on only to see the final of the creation.... (we just trick them into getting interested in another project just before completing the first one)...
