turned this out just before the cold snap a couple weeks back . made from a heavy weight 100% virgin wool ( dont ask , I dont know how they know  ROFL ) blanket ! very warm , little shorter than most , very warm , and completely hand stitched ! third one I`ve made in the last thirty years !  .....I hate sewing ! ROFL

might redo the belt loops ! bring them up a bit higher ! it`s comfortable , but to warm for the average winter day ! jus right for the colder nastier days we had a while back , and will likely see againin the near future !  picked the blanket up at a flea market for $ 3.00 . looked it up , original price $300.00 . gotta love flea markets  ;D

dntn Good job! I understand the need for temperatures to be on the cold side in order to wear a capote. Mine gets worn less than a week per year; there's just so many days that down to freezing temperatures here in South Texas. Wool is warm!

I`ve taken off 70 pounds in the past year m and did`nt take the weight loss in too account as much as I should have  hdslp, but that double layer of thick wool cloth across the chest   and abdomen certainly helps maintain warmth !  and for really cold windy days , I have room for layering !  ;D so it worked out fairly well !

Great Job on the Capote. That would be perfect for hunting up here in upstate NY. hntr  Plenty cold up here.
