Lookin' good Woody! I like the simple butplate. Are those hand forged nails?

Yes on the nails. These were guns cut down for whatever reason and usually would not have a butt plate, thus a smaller cut down plate ordered by the owner.

Slow going on this project but between the weather, the wife's cataract surgery, just not getting the time in the shop I have finally managed to get it 90% roughed out.

William

Despite the delay it's looking good. I'm sure that Dryball would have been proud.

Got the early serpent sideplate made today and put a dry run of the parts assembled....getting close. My friend wants it in the white so after some final sanding, making the ramrod, and maqking sure she functions properly it's off to the new owner. I'll try to post finished pictures but if I can't at least you have a good idea of how it's going to look.

R I Jerolmon

I've got one started with Ash stock, 12ga bore 25" barrel, more on the lines of a canoe gun. Hope to pick up a lock at The Ancient Ones gun show next week. I plan on using it for turkey elimination. hntr

Hanshi

Now it's looking like what has been described as a "canoe" gun.  And, Jesse168, if I had a gun like that it would NEVER go on a trade blanket.  (susp)

I like little guns a lot but wouldn't want a barrel shorter than, say, 20".
Young guys should hang out with old guys; old guys know stuff.

that`s two of us ! I can build kits , and re build old messed up pieces , but just the thought of doing a rifle or trade gun from scratch gives me the willies   pnic

Here is a Youtube link to a original stutz jager I thought was rather neat. I have a 14 inch .45 cal. barrel I plan on building into something based on the one in the video.

that`s an interesting little carbine .  while back I had a pedersoli bounty hunter , 16 3/8 inch .44 cal barrel , had thought of using the barrel , lock and ramrod thimbles for a small carbine !

After building this one and watching this video I realized I had every thing on hand to build one of these little buggers for myself sometime....so what the heck, might as well !  ROFL
