flint and steel fire starting

   I now have three sets of flint and steel fire starters, each different, but all with the same result, not enough sparks to start a fire. I give up, not going to waste my time anymore. I have some coleman fire starters, magnesium and a hack saw blade, works great. I've been trying to learn how to strike a flint and get some sparks, but no dice, have watched videos on how to do it with the same result, no dice. I'll have to get a magnifying glass and try that, but if it's cloudy, that won't work. I don't know what to do, or how to get it done, but am throwing in the towel. Catch me if ya can.
