I wanted to build a display/carry case for two pistols and some accouterments.
I had a fluorescent fixture with a wooden frame around it. The frame cut off too much light, so I removed it. Ah, a basis for a frame for the case!
I removed some metal parts and brackets. I put a plywood backing on it and was ready for the next step.
We had the pet stained carpet removed and wood floors put in. That gave me some additional wood pieces to play with.

To see if my measurements were correct, I placed some historically correct firearms in the case.

Off to Johann's Sewing Store for some felt to line the case. I did a rough fit of the felt to the case.

Then, needed some veneer to cover the ugly, irregular edges on the felt. Now it was time to place the actual pistols in the case.

Now, do I put a wood top on it or make a Plexiglas cover?

I need a pretty felt-lined wooden case for MY Buck Rogers pistol too.  ;D

Actually that's very nice looking (the case not the ray gun). Is there a way to glue down the felt without having it bleed through the material and messing it up?

If I had been more careful and had some patience with my hot glue gun, I could have avoided any blobs appearing in the felt. But I am short on the patience factor. Also, I would like to know how to keep the felt from bunching in tight corners.

That will be NEAT!  Where did that Romulan disruptor come from?
Young guys should hang out with old guys; old guys know stuff.

looks good !
The spinning and flashing colored lights on that space gun gives me away to the Klingons, so I have to be very careful in using it.

thmbsup  Traditional and cheap is where its at.  ROFL  Good job Ron. Surprised Hanshi let you use his blaster as a model though.

Maybe it's a swap so Ron will build another one for Hanshi's USS Enterprise model collection.....

In the shop I worked at we always set felt with spray contact cement, clear usually but sometimes red. It never bled through. It doesn't take a lot and it holds very well.
I am the one your mom warned you about!

Moving along with the box.
It is close to being completed.
I found some veneer to cover the plywood and it worked pretty well.

I put some foam on the interior of the top to keep pistols and horns from bouncing around.

I am thinking of attaching small boxes on the back of the case so that I can use it as a carry case for the range.
