Excuse my post for not being real traditional      Just thinking ahead.  My grandson's second Christmas is coming up.  Tradition in my family is for hand made gifts.  I was thinking of making a tipi that could be set up in the corner of his room with four or five 6-7 ft dowels for poles.  Obviously it wouldn't be pc, but I would like it to look good with ease of setting up.  I will have to ship it to his parents across the country.   Maybe a fake fur rug for the floor.    I bought an old heavy metal sewing machine from a neighbor for the job.   I know the pattern is basically a half circle with a little extra for top flaps. .  (when his mother was three, I fashioned one from a bed sheet and pool cue sticks and she took naps in that for months.)    Any ideas for how to fasten the canvas to the poles, etc would be appreciated. Tie straps, snaps, etc

You should get a book,  and scale down a plan off that.  Tipi's don't attach to poles, they lace up the front  with short sticks.  You can put ties on bottom to fasten to the poles.    Sounds like a great project.   Tom

Sounds like a fun project - if you complete it how about a set of instructions or a step by step guide, with pictures of course!  cuch
