A while back ago I bought a kit gun off GB. It was incomplete but only cost me $36.00. I bought the rest of the parts off Deer Creek Products. The gun went together fine. The only problems Im having is that the hammer wont stay half or full calked. I adjusted the screw in between the triggers and nothing happened. There is a small alan head screw behind the set trigger on the trigger bar that I adjusted. I got the hammer to calk on half calk and full calk and the front trigger would fire it. The set trigger never would work though. I took the trigger mech. out of the gun to see if the set trigger would then work out of the gun. It still wouldnt work. While I was messing around with the triggers , the long wire spring came loose and shot across the room to never be found! I looked every where for it. I now ordered a new trigger mech. from Deer Creek Products and is supposed to be here Monday. Can anyone give me some advice installing and havivg the rifle calk and half calk and the triggers fire set or unset. What do I need to do or look for. Any advive or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanyou. Respectfully, cowboys1062

As for adjusting the triggers, just google "adjust double set triggers" and there are a lot of videos and step by step instructions. I downloaded the Ardessa manual and it has a section in there on how to adjust them that will be applicable to almost all the imports. What is not said in most of the articles is making sure the fly is working properly and not over adjusting the sear screw that can adjust the overall trigger pull. When you get your new trigger set, it should be factory adjusted pretty darn close to optimum already. This is a perfect time to learn how they work. Play with it before you install it in the rifle. Holding it in front of you, pull the set (rear) trigger back until it snaps into place. Then pull the front trigger and watch what happens. When you pull the front trigger, the rear trigger will snap up and this is what fires the rifle. If you do not use the set trigger, you have to pull the front trigger all the way to engage the sear. Also before you install the new one, hold it up to the old one and make sure the trigger bars are the same size. If not this will adversely affect the ability for your rifle to fire. You will find a passel of differing opinions about double set triggers on this forum and I was stymied for quite some time before I figured out that I was over-thinking the triggers and was able to adjust all mine so they all work the same. Good luck and stay safe.

I could be wrong, again, but this doesn't sound like an adjustment problem. I would start by smoking the trigger assembly and then installing it into the stock. Try to set the trigger and then take it out and see if the triggers are are contacting any wood in the trigger mortice. If that is the case you will see black from the smoking and that area needs to be trimmed until it no longer interferes with the operation of the trigger. It's a definite maybe.

had a similar problem with a used custom rifle I bought , guy had inletted the back of the trigger bar to deep into the wood , I fixed that by putting in a shim of the right thickness . was a trial and error job . took about an hour to get it right ! one of the reasons I really dont like set triggers !

I got the double set triggers in from Deer Creek on Monday. I cleaned them up and oiled them real good and installed them in my muzzleloader. Everything worked out great. It half cocks and full cocks like it should and the set trigger works perfect. I didnt have to make any adjustments at all.  Thanks for the replies and help! cowboys1062
