What is the best wood filler one can use for filling in voids on a gun stock? Say about 1/3" long x 1/8" wide?

I would be using wood instead of a filler for that big of a void. But before you can discuss materials, it is important to know more. Such as where is the void? How deep? Is it subject to stress? The best thing to do on this forum is show us a picture of the suspect void, then all others can chime in. Remember that there are a lot of folks that can give you invaluable advice on repairs like this. So let them have their say, listen to them all carefully and weigh the different opinions and approaches before deciding on the proper course of action. After all that, as long as you have a decent picture up that shows the void in context, forget what anyone else says to do and follow my instructions and advice because in my humble opinion there is not another soul around that knows more about repairing wood than I do. But the pictures will help a lot.
I am the one your mom warned you about!

Unfortunately my schedule and energy level neither one allow me the luxury of lengthy, detailed phone conversations. I'll be happy to chime in, as I'm able, on issues posted here, but I have more to do in my time off from work than my time off from work will allow.
