[hmm]  All right fellow archers. You need to check this out some of it makes sense. Just dont try the last part. Think about it and it shows how deadly the Sioux And Comanche would have been so deadly.

that video shows a gymnastic blend of parkour and archery.

yeah, interesting but in another sense it's annoying ... NOT TRADITONAL ARCHERY let alone TRADITIONAL BOWHUNTING in the sense we use those terms and acts today.  non-archery folks seeing this vid come away with a very distorted view of traditional archery as practically practiced today.

it HAD relevance for ancient warfare, through the american indian wars, but it has no relevance in the 21st century let alone the 20th century.  warfare has gotten way beyond the stick 'n' string combined with gymnastics.  it's just fun, gimmick "archery".

there is NO application for what HE'S doing as it applies to what WE'RE doing.

there is nothing about his act that could be applied to traditional bowhunting.

ymmv.

I think that if the shtf  this would be good for hit and run tactics where you dont want the sound of gunfire attracting attention . small sqaud could be in and out in a matter of second without alerting anyone . as for it not being relevent , tell that to vietnam vets who were fighting hill tribesmen armed with swords and crossbows early in the war ! the thing here is training , it takes longer to train a good archer than a gunner .

I think that he's a marvelous trick shooter but the video is historically misleading.
I love archery for its quietness too

For those who have read Saxton Pope's account of Ishi, you remember how poor of an archer Ishi was. When he demonstrated his hunting techniques to Dr. Pope, Pope was amazed that Ishi's tribe hadn't died out sooner. Patience was his "skill" not archery. I wonder just how accurate the plains Indians were at the longer distances involved on the open prairie. The Cheyennes' archery skills against buffalo were really horsemanship skills since the shots were taken at point blank range.
Obviously, there were good individual archers but was every warrior so skilled?

In medieval battles the strategy was simple. If you fill the air with enough arrows against a concentrated target, some are bound to hit what you want.

Archery was used by Brit.commandos in raids on Europe in WW2 prior to D-Day.Quiet is very important in many circumstances in so called modern warfare.I can't think of anything more scary than finding one of your comrades dead with an arrow stuck in him.

And we use rocks and steel and percussion caps to make boom and smoke, it HAD relevance for ancient warfare, through the american indian wars, but it has no relevance in the 21st century let alone the 20th century.  warfare has gotten way beyond the rocks and caps.......... :mini-devil-28492:

We actually had archers in Viet Nam in teams, one archer the others with firearms if things went south.  Picking off the last man going down a trail.  Do I have proof?  No, just going by memory of an article I read 40+ years ago...

Hawk I know off what you speak. Can I prove it no other than I was one of the archers.
