I have a 16 gauge modern barrel and would like to build a side lock percussion muzzleloader with it, this will be a new endeavor for me any ideas or is there someone who could build it for me. Thanks you all in advance.  Roger

We have a number of experienced builders here, I'm sure someone will take on your project or at least make a recommendation. Having said that, why don't you consider getting a barrel built to be a muzzle loader from the get go?  You won't be saving much if any money by using a modern shotgun barrel plus the 16 is kinda of an oddball gauge. You may have sentimental reasons in reusing that barrel and that's something I understand. I had Mongrel use my Lyman Trade Rifle as a basis for a new, custom rifle but it wasn't that much cheaper than having one built from scratch. For a shotgun, consider a 20 gauge with a 36 inch barrel at least.

My little shotgun is a 16ga. with 25in barrel...flinter and a blast to shoot...4 1/4 lb light ..60gr. powder and 1oz.

DandJofAZ  that is what I'm looking for only with percussion. Short light good for small game and larger game, I like the 16 because I can shoot light loads like the 20 and heavier loads like the 12, best of both worlds.
