didn't check out all the sites but looks do- able,  few felt proto-types....why the wolf ears??

I don't know the story behind the ears but there are several period paintings showing them being worn by trappers I thin Miller did them.

After giving this careful consideration, It is poosible that the early trappers nay have skun a wolfs head and made a hat,  that would explain the perky ears.  Can you imagine the look on an Indians face when they saw a trapper with the wolfs head hat.  Not sure if the Indians revered the wolves or not,  but I tend to think it could scare the crap out of an unexpecting person.  May give the trapper the edge.
