The staff has decided to drop the day-by-day postings in this category. "This Day In History" will be five years old, in July. Though we cover roughly three hundred years of American history, here, from the earliest Colonial days to well after the Civil War, somehow there aren't as many "historical" events as a person might think, and many posts on given dates are being repeated year after year. It honestly takes a lot of the enjoyment and enthusiasm out of looking up events to report, every day.

Newcomers and long-time members both might enjoy starting back on Page One, and reading the original posts, if they haven't before. Honestly it makes no difference whether we post, this upcoming March 6th, that on this date in 1836 the Alamo fell, or someone going through the back pages comes across that same information posted three or four years ago.

Members are not only allowed, but encouraged, to post historical information that they believe others might find interesting. The category isn't being closed or locked. We just don't feel there's a need, any more, for daily posts.
