Do you like Mulies ?

I started this one Sunday. I have a bit of tweaking to do to the body and head. I sat down and sketched this out in about an hour so it's not spot on. But will be. The painting is 18X24" the photo is 8x9"

I hope you all enjoy this one. I've been thinking of this for some time now. I am not a Mule Deer fan to hunt but this guy has a look about him.

Hey Dave, is this watercolor your working with?

DaveHawk

No I work with inks. They are workable like water colors but very different.

Red Badger

Looks a lot loike the one I got in '86... just might have to put in an order for this one!

Can't wait to see it done! You do such wonderful work!!

DaveHawk

Thanks you crazel and Bager,

I worked on the body last night. I saw a retina specialist yesterday and I'm having problems with perception. After I put this up and looked at it I saw the nose was off a bit. I'll repair that this evening and begin the lighter coloring on him.

DaveHawk

Worked the head last night and hope to get back to it this evening.

Got the ears done. I use to spend this time in a tree stand now I sit for 5 hours painting and end up with 2 ears.  LOL

Was  able to get a full day at the easel yesterday, Considering that the Skins / Raven's game was on I did get also done.

He's starting to come alive....almost expect him to snort a little steam and bounce away into the woods.  dntn

Real enough to start the heart to hammering with a case of buck fever.... That last picture in particular, capturing the texture of the hair, is incredibly lifelike. This is going to be a good one.

Inks?  never used them but for calligeraphy- was wondering how you got the pic so dry and evolved in the short times you mention ?.   Where can go to find out more about them (inks), acrylics my choice but haven't played with them for many years.  Never get to your level but always looking for something new. Appreciate any help or suggestions and you can have him processed : and mailed to my house, freezer ready :mini-devil-28492:  Thanks Di
