I had a really nice surprise delivery this morning, my newest acquisition...this Northwest Trade Gun. It was built by Greg Christian of Mississippi. It is a 14 inch LOP maple stock, 42 in. .62 cal. barrel and a L&R Trade Lock.
All the steel parts are in the white, with a brass butt plate and ramrod thimbles. It came with a brass tip ramrod but I put a wood flared rod I made in for this photo. ( I can use this rod with this gun or with the fowler Mike built me when I want a more period look at rondy.)

I had about a 3 hour window to get out a try out the trade gun late this afternoon. She shot fine. I still need to play with the front sight some as at 25 yards she shoots about 6-8 inches low with my load of choice, 70 grs. of 2F. Though I will be using shot far more than ball, I felt like trying a few ball loads in case I get a opportunity to go after a deer. With a little tweaking I sure it will fill the bill!
