Flint Knappers in the USA Pre 1850

Okay here's a question; Were there any flintknappers supplying flints to the military and civilians prior to 1850 ?
We know that Brit and French flints were imported by the ton (and captured too) but were there any commercial knappers in the country ? Not talking about our Indian friends and small scale rock bashers.
