This non-petroleum lubricant was given to me by a friend who is an engineer and machinist.  It is lanolin based and does smell a bit like wet sheep but otherwise it seems to work very well as a general cleaner, black powder solvent and rust and corrosion preventing lube.

The only thing I have found out about it is that is negative is that it will destroy any percussion cap that gets near it.  So if you load and keep the weapon loaded and capped, this is not the lube for your gun. A friend of mine used it to clean a North American Arms companion and didn't get around to firing the rounds for about 3 weeks.  Neither the caps or powder was any good.  I suppose that is why it is a really good powder solvent.  No problem at all if one fires a cap to clear the nipple before loading and then continues with the days loading and shooting as is usually done.

It comes in a WD-40 styled can with a tube applicator and is available here at John Deere tractor dealers.  It is pretty viscuous and if applied to old, dry or cracked air gun seals and pistons it seems to repair them to better than new velocity for several hundred shots.  I have found other uses for the substance including weatherproofing leather and canvas.

I'm sure somewhat else has it but around here that was who had it in stock.  I bet if you check their website they can give you the nearest dealer to your location.

If You are around Shelton, Washington, or the Centralia Gunshows, Steve's Ammunition is a dealer, and always has a fresh batch on hand. He was one of the first to handle it in our area. It is all I use to protect My muzzleloaders..awsome stuff...

Mohawk, the last can of this that I bought was at Verles boats in Shelton, works great around saltwater applications also

Its fantastic. I swear they made this suff for the Northwest. Every other lubricant/protectant gives up after a few minutes in our rainy climate. This stuff fights of the weather, and takes no guff from mother nature..Love it..
If anyone is interested, I can contact Steve and try and get a bulk price on some Fluid Film. We travel in the same circles and I live close to him...Let Me Know....

Rain? What is this "Rain" you speak of? ;D

You are lucky on the dry side. We have had almost 3" of rain in the last 3 days. I saw a duck with a life preserver last night. Wish I was on Your side of the Mountains...Less rain and Less People....LOL

The stuff is petroleum based, read the literature describing it,however it is easy to clean out before shooting. An alcohol wet patch works very well.

I sprayed an adjustable wrench with this stuff, chained it to the dock at our place on the hood canal in Brinon, awith the rise and fall of the tide it's exposed to salt water twice a day and air the rest of the time, a month later there was NO RUST what so ever on the wrench, amazing stuff!
