Tough news indeed. The man has all my thoughts. I count myself lucky that after 35+
years of running saws for a living that I still have all 10, and only a couple of scars to
show for it.

All fingers are intact but the bandages and splints will remain on for at least one month.  I told him to take his pain meds and heal up.

           Hope you heal fast and well. I,ve been running power saws for 50+ years and had many close calls , only have a few chunks missing , Not hard to make a wrong move with power tools.

Thanks for the good wishes. The only argument I will put up to the suggestions for a speedy recovery are about those pain meds. I refer sometimes to not having always been a very nice person (and some today will say that's a relative thing.... ) -- I'm twenty years clean but till March of 1991 was a bad alcoholic and narcotics addict -- and today they hand me a prescription for Oxycontin of all things. I won't be filling it. So if you're inclined to say a prayer for me, make it for the fortitude to get through this with the help of plain ol' Ibuprofen for the rough spots.

And any prayer said for me I wish tenfold to the folks whose suffering has been the source of prayer requests before now. My pain is because of a stupid mistake that a first-semester woodworking student in high school would know better than to make. I can hardly place this self-inflicted discomfort on a level with the suffering of people who brought none of it on themselves.
