I went to the Trasher's Reunion over the weekend and went by the blacksmith and had him to make me a blade out of an old file I came across at my grand parents homeplace.  The deer antler was one that my grandfather killed back in the 30's. My uncle gave it to me awhile back. I will definitely think of him every time I use the knife.  Now I got to make a sheath for it.

Sounds like it should be cherished. Something to keep passing along to the men of your family.. Great looking knife by the way. thmbsup

Mike, the Thrasher's Reunion is an event that takes place not far from where I live.  Collectors of old farm equipment from all over the east coast gather and demonstrate their equipment. There are all types of old tractors, horse drawn  and steam powered machines on display.  Originally it started out to raise money for a fire department and rescue squad. They were giving airplane rides and added the steam powered thrashing machine(combines) to give the ones waiting to go on their ride something to do while they waited. It grew from that and now it is billed as the largest gathering of steam powered machinery show in the southeast.  Google up Denton Farm Park or Southeast Old Thrasher's Reunion.  It is really pretty neat if you like that sort of stuff.  It takes place every fourth of July.

redhawk,
I thought that might be the one. Been there a couple of times. Great place. I live about an hours' drive from there. We must be almost neighbors ;D

Mike, if you live in Grover, you are about hour and a half from me.  My son found his first car in Grover.  So you are not that far away. I live about 5 miles from the Thrasher Reunion.  So we are practically neighbors.
