Recently I have read post that refer to our  blK powder  rifles and pistols  as "TOYS".  So I checked the dictionary for the definition of toys.  they are;  1. an object for children to play with, well its been said I am childish at times.  2, something of little importance,  get real blk powder shooting is very important.  3, an amusement, a pastime,  well it may be a pastime but its not always amusing.  4, a diminutive thing,  yeah right!   TOYING;  to treat something casually or without seriousness,  How much more serious can we get??  There must be a better word or phase than to decribe our Black powder rifles and pistols as "TOYS".

I understand what you are saying, but we must take each and every post with a grain of salt, and some patience and understanding...

the post involved was a reference to the quote "He who dies with the most toys, wins"  in which the word toy was loosely used to mean everything a person accumulates and which he enjoys using... cars, boats, atv's, etc...

Yes we are all aware that Firearms of any kind from the first hand canon to the modern autoloader are not "toys" ad if you are not aware of it "Old Salt" and I are slightly fanatical on the topic of safety and will not hesitate to jump in when we feel it is needed.  As is your right if you feel something needs saying...

That being said, the quote referenced above has been around for several years and I am not going to start making this site a place where "proper terminology and Political Correctness rule here." as quoted from a site I left when they got their nickers in a twist over a comment very similar to this one...

"The table is small signifying one prisoner alone against his or her suppressors..."

I did not mean it as direspectful or to start an arguement,  more on the light hearted side, humorous.   My ex wife would always say I had a new toy, yet when she got something then it was a different story.  Sort of like when our children buy something unneccessary when they actually should have gotten something they really needed.   Maybe those that feel we have TOYS are just an old Fa+t,    ROFL   please don't take this too seriously, thanks

I think that an example of #4 would be a 'Toy' poodle as in small
