I started to researched the history of the local Native Americans that inhabited the immedeiate area I live in.  I can't seem to nail any particullar group to this area.  I live 1 mile south of the Blue Mountain, just north of Klecknersville, Pa.  6 mile north of here, in Monroe County,  there is a stone monument concerning a moravian indian school.  The house I live in is supposedly built on an Indian Burial Grounds.  There is a lot of history in this house because of the fact the house in built on the burial grounds.  All good.  I am trying to learn who the people were, their history, names etc.  I work in Lehighton, Pa., up the street from work, there is a sign that say about an Indian massacre in the early seettkement of Ghnaddenhueten, present day Lehighton.  The sign says the indians killed the settlers.  Yet when researching on the web, I stumbled across a page from the" Nations".  That stated the settlers killed the Indians.  This area is rich in history, as is most all of North America.  Supposedly, there is an Indian Chief buried on property.  I have tried in vain to locate his history on the web.  His name I am told is Bonohae or Bonahue?  Maybe he was a sub chief but he WAS and I'd like to know more about him and his people.  My ancestors were the intruders looking for a better way of life, to live free.    Its shameful that we all couldn't find some way to live and coexist side by side.  Guess what happened was inevitable. Seems shameful that we know so little about the first Americans, whos land we now call our own.

Thankyou Beouwolf, interesting but little said concerning local clans of the Lehigh Valley.  Mostly about Ohio  Valley people. Did find out more than I knew before. . I never thought that when they buried someone, that they would bury axes, arrowheads etc.  Make sense though concerning their beliefs in the after life.  That may explain why 25 years ago, when the previous owner here, while plowing for a garden always found arrowheads.I  always thought finding arrowheads meant there was some kind of skirmish there at one time.   Thanks again Beouwolf

Most of the time a person who has studied Native American artifacts will be able to tell by looking at the points wheather they are form a burial site, battle site or buffalo kill site, or a quarry.
As I understand it artifacts from burial site are perfect and some times larger than what would normally be for every day use. Some of the ones I have seen even have color variations or crustaceans that will depict animals or other things believed to be spiritual
All gave some Some gave all

the research continues.  Have recently found info concerning an old moravian indian mission at long gone indian village, just 4 miles north of home.  The village was call Meniolagomeka, "Fat Land In The Midst Of The Barrens".  I have known of this place before, this village is part of what got me started researching.  ...........................Seems the more I research and discover new things I didn't know, the more I know nothing.  Sort of what I would expect if I were stuck in QUICK SAND.  Still I will continue researching.  within 1 mile of home there was a stone blockhouse built in the mid 1700's for the protection of local settlers from Leni-Lenape indians.  Have seen what looks to be an old mill, at the approx site stated in old records.  As I said, the research, search continues..................time has come to stop research and start some serious searching.
