I'm looking at diamond shelters/trail tarps and was wondering which makers are the best, not so good, which ones that you like and why?

I prefer to make my own, approx. 10 x 10. I use 12 oz. canvas and wash and dry hot to shrink and tighten the weave. I tie in my anchor points where I need them.

William, I bought the 9X12 tarp from home depot in the 12 OZ weight and it makes a great diamond tent. Wash and dry to shrink, then I water proof it a little with water seal. I tried both sewn on ties, and marbles with twine both work fine. The canvas costs 35 dollars and the rope about 4 dollars. Gonna use it at rondy this weekend and on treks this year. Plenty of room and REAL easy to set up. I also have the big tent and had a 20 ft teepee, loved both but also like the ease of this one.

I've looked at Tentsmiths products before but they are a little more expensive than some others for the same size diamond fly out of the same sunforager canvas.  I rather like the oil cloth diamond/trail tarp they offer though, but I'm also considering a traper tent from Fourseasons as well, because that set-up offers a way to close the front for a little privacy.  The other configuration that caught my eye was the Queen's Bluff by Redhawk.
