??? You know, I enjoy visiting this website, but to be perfectly honest with you folks, I think that there are waaaay to many topic's! ... It gets down right confusing trying to cover and read every topic and many topic's are just a repetition of several other separate topic's and subject matter!  Many many of the topic threads haven't had a recent post for months and some a year or more! .... I think that if the "powers that be",   would go through all the thread topic's and edit or delete some of the dead or redundant threads. .    You will see what I mean!  There are even several topic's that are just plan dumb! (susp) ... There I said it!   I think it's time to down size for quality not quanity!

No offence! .... Just thinking out loud! ...  cuch

I don't post often...mostly give a quick scan looking for things to learn, etc...so I say this only to be 100% constructive...I agree there does seem to be an awful lot more categories than there might need to be.

But that said, it's 'not my house' and hats off to those who built it...just offering an honest opinion for what it's worth in this thread.

I have to agree with both the comments above.

Here are the rules I live under as posed to me by Dennis.

1.  I would not delete any thread that contains material posted concerning the historical way of life.
2.  I would not delete any for sale/trade ad but move them to the archives when completed so others can search for a basis on value
3.  I would only delete/ban a member for violation of the rules as posted and then only with a majority consensus of the Booshways.
4.  I was to try and keep the harmony of the site intact to the best of my ability.
5.  If I thought a new area was needed I was to give it a reasonable amount of time to see if you all used it and then I could remove it if it was not being utilized but cannot remove any of the areas that were in existence when I took over.

It has been brought to my attention that some of the areas are becoming a "chat room" type of situation.  We are a forum not a chat room.  The posts presented should be of informative value and not just a comment for comment sake.  I have been guilty of the same  and will strive to do better myself.  If I have noting constructive to add to a post I will not post anymore.

I will be taking some time in the next couple of weeks to go over every thread and see where we can trim and perhaps join threads, but as posted in my marching orders above I will not delete any topics untill they have been joined or moved to the appropriate area of the board.

If you find or know of a topic that is a duplicate Please PM me so I can look at it and see to fixin it.

I AgreeTher are many people on here thst post just to hear thier own keyboard click. If a person dose not have anything valid to add to a post then they should not post. Posting just to say "pass the jug" adds nothing to the conversation. Or to make bad jokes or add one of those little emoticon thiongs. Quality over quantity.

Blackfeet

Yer right, I'm confused,

Does this mean that if I see that more than say one or two people have already said "nice work" or such to Horner75 when he displays one of his pieces, then I shouldn't post. Or give him a  thmbsup dntn Or saying Hello in welcome, or Prayers sent in the prayer chapel? Is that adding value? Yes, cause it's a community.

Hey I know that I am guilty and I will go through and remove my posts that I feel do not add value. But I will leave the Hello's, the prayers sent, and the great job, Horner 75's thmbsup, yes the little smilies, cause I like to think of this as a group of friends, yeah sometimes we gab too much, just like real life. And just like real life, there are those that do not. I personally will try too do better. No offence taken, and none intended.

I agree with both blackfeet as well as the other gentlemen. I am definitely guilty of a case of potty mouth, as my posting shows. However I have looked back over past posts and it looks as though we are still following what Dennis started and Loved about this site, sharing, compassion, knowledge, humor. I look forward to coming on this site everyday to see all you guys logged on and visiting and sharing with one another in the great spirit of this sport. I do agree that sometimes people get lost in a moment or caught up in the kidding around, but isn't that exactly what this is also about,as well as a fantastic source of knowledge and help. I have looked and looked for another web site that even compares to this one but have not found one.. What makes this site so great is the hard work and dedication by the people who work on this site everyday and those that add to it. Maybe instead of looking for ways to cut back I think maybe we need an area for guys that want to talk or joke around, and try to keep that to a minimum on the other areas. Just thought I would give my thoughts on it. Thanks for reading. And thanks for a great web site. thmbsup
"Remember posting is encouraged, not mandatory" Just thought I would add this little tidbit. From rule #1

I never read the prayer requests or the welcome section. niether are relevent to me,so do what you will in those sections. I do read the threads that might have some historical relevance. I read these to learn or to help some one that is asking a question. They almost always with out exception turn into a bunch of unrelated comments that usualey invole jugs abd bad jokes.
It is not my forum...I just visit and ocasionally post. So my opinion dose not realy matter here. I will say this though, if you have something usefull to add to a conversation do so. If not just read it, learn something and not post.

"Maybe instead of looking for ways to cut back I think maybe we need an area for guys that want to talk or joke around, and try to keep that to a minimum on the other areas."

There is a place for that in the open topics area.  We talked about adding a chat room so people online at the same time could converse in real time but the logistics did not work out and we were afraid that we would lose some good information sharing.  it is not so much the "nice work" posts as the Hijacks and 'pass the jug" comments that are getting people confused.  Also there are so many post which are posted in area "A" when they might be better in area "B" if you get my meaning.  I just added a sub room to leather working for dyes and moved an bunch of posts from the "how do I" area into it to make them easier to find...  I will be adding some more headings as I get time based on the posts I see... One of which will be Canvas or some such as i counted over 40 posts dealing with finding or working with different types of canvas...

Remember if you have any suggestions, or comments PM myself or one of the Booshways with your concerns... If you don't tell us we can't try and fix an issue and that leads to frustration for all of us when it comes to a boil.  The only dumb question is the one NOT asked!

So what you are saying is that if it isn't relevant to you we have your permission to do what we want but the rest is off limits,or use but only under certain circumstances? Now I'm confused

Well said BrokenHawk, my sentiment exactly..

Granted there are a lot of topics...so why is that a problem,   I read the ones that interest me and skip the others..not a problem...

Still the best site on the web anyway !!!   dntn

Not sure what you are confused about. If you read the red part of my statement it should awnser your questions.
You dont need my permission to do anything.

Now ain't this something. My life gets busy for awhile and forces me to stay away for a few days. I come back and what do I find? An argument starting to brew up over whether we should get everything said on this site with one click or not. Makes me think I should go away for a much longer time. Makes me feel like a little kid listening to the adults fighting all over again.

This is one of my places to visit on a daily basis. It has inspired me to do more than i ever had or wanted to. I wouldn't want it to change the way it is. The elders who take care of this site, do a wonderful job. I believe we all have gotten carried away at one time or another. The difference in personality's here are great. I only know one person personally. that would be my best friend and shooting buddy Brokenhawk. He harassed me for over a year to join. I have and have learned so much stuff i can't believe it... I've met people from all over this great nation, and a few from abroad. This sport, hobby, life style is fragile in some area's. Please don't let this be one too!!! I would miss this camaraderie here. the diverse opinion's the humor and all the character's.I'm not here to offend or annoy anyone. Can't we all get along?
Thank you all for this site.
sincerely crazell.

Maybe not a good comparison but then again, its kinda like going to a library or the grocery store, you don't pick up every item or book, only those that interest you.  We all have our own subjects that we are interested in or want to learn about, so I just visit them and bypass those that don't.  Dennis created this as a resource for information, a place to gather and have good friendship and joke and laugh.  A place where we can learn and pass on information to preserve our heritage and that of the muzzleloader and mt man and soldier, native american and others. Lets just keep sharing and learning, teaching and helping each other.  Guess that about all I can say and be "lady" about it.
